You Are Not Alone (2014)

As I head into September, it is nice to be able to kick back and check out some of the interesting movies that are coming out from the indie circuit. It is a good thing too, and much of Hollywood is more concerned about reboots or sequels to take a risk on something original. One movie that is definitely a different take is the 2014 slasher, You Are Not Alone?

Plot/ Natalie is a college graduate visiting her hometown over the 4th of July. The night she arrives, a sociopathic killer stalks her.

This is a movie that will cause arguments and disagreements among the viewers because of the different approach it takes with the filmmaking. A complete POV, there are some interesting elements viewing things from a potential victims perspective. Of course, this also leaves some elements outside the visual spectrum of the character and there are some missing moments that could make it even better. This one starts slow and ramps up throughout with the atmosphere building along with the action. Yes, it could have been a touch shorter (especially toward the beginning where the pace is slower), but other than that, it is an interesting and solid entry into the slasher genre. In the end, viewers will either love or hate it (like with many horror films), but if you like movies with a different perspective and can handle a show burn, give it a shot!
